A Window to the Fatherland

We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.

Dr Alireza Nourizadeh:

Tonight we will first look at the news of Iraqi militias entering Iran on the order of the regime and how their presence is unwelcome by the Iranian people as they look upon them as a force that has a mission that has nothing to do with helping the flood victims of our country.

Our special guest tonight is the economist Dr Manouchehr Farahbakhsh who would share with us his expert views about Iran’s economic woes in light of the recent flood disaster in the country.

Dr Manouchehr Farahbakhsh:

This flood has shed light on my of Iran’s hidden problems.

Khamenei had declared the new Persian year as the year of domestic production and economic growth, but the flood has slapped his face with the reality of how devastated the country’s economy is due to the regime’s incompetence and policies.

Khamenei has little or no proper understanding of the laws of economy. You cannot say that you want to see economic growth without having the proper foundations for it.

Some people have just put the words into his mouth and he has repeated them.

Economic growth is based on growth in production. Iran’s manufacturing sectors are almost bankrupt due to lack of state financial support and the rampant corruption.

Under the Shah’s regime Iran was going forward with full industrialisation and modern market economy.

With the arrival of Khomeini and his regime this process was cut off brutally and economic prosperity became a taboo.

Further more, the new regime handed Iran’s economic institutes to its loyal ideological allies among the traditional bazzaris whose knowledge of modern economic laws were zero.

The regime confiscated the wealth and properties of our industrialist elite and handed them to interest groupings of ignorant people.

These people have ruined Iran’s economy over the decades and are now responsible for all the ills of our country.
